Basic testing of an electric oven heating element

The oven contains two heating elements, the bake element mounted in the oven bottom and the broil element mounted in the oven top. Check the oven by turning it to Bake, then turning it to Broil. If neither the bake nor the broil element glows after being turned on, the trouble probably lies elsewhere. Check the thermostat and the bake-broil selector switch.
