Kenmore 596.75504400, Had this unit for 9 years so far.

We've had this freddie for 9 years so far. Two years ago we replaced the compressor. This last week, the refrigerator stopped working, and I posted on appliance parts pros' forum, and was told the defrost part of it has ceased working. I was given some tips on what to check, so I did, and they are fine. I've now pulled the freezer's fan-- it drives colder freezer air up into the freddie side-- and it's not working. While the part is only $56 and change.... I'm curious what else may be wrong. They do have a return policy of one year, so I'm just frustrated-- I had to replace my clothes dryer 3 weeks ago, so I'm not pleased right now.
