Detergent dispenser door won't open during normal wash cycle.

I own a Kenmore model#6651677993 dish washer that is 10 to 15 yrs. old. Have not had any problems during this time. My problem now is the detergent dispenser door does not open during normal cycle. It only opens when dail is manually turned to the Water Miser setting. Is this a Cam being set in the wrong position in relation to the cycle problem? Any ideas on how to fis this problem? Thank you.
